About J.R.R. Tolkien

John Ronald Reuel Tolkien was an Oxford professor, philologist, and one of the most influential fantasy authors of all time. His creation of Middle-earth complete with its own languages, histories, and mythologies set a new standard for world-building in literature.

The Lord of the Rings, first published between 1954–1955, reshaped modern fantasy and continues to inspire films, art, academic study, and generations of readers. Tolkien’s attention to linguistic detail, mythic structure, and moral depth makes early editions of his works especially prized by collectors.
