Description
Original leaves from a 1605 Geneva Bible, commonly referred to as the “Breeches Bible.” This famous English Bible predates the King James Version and was one of the most widely read Bibles of the late 16th and early 17th centuries.
Offered here are original early-17th-century leaves containing the “Book of Tables” and Concordance section from the Geneva Bible. To the best of my knowledge, the entirety of the Book of Tables is present.
These pages would have appeared near the back of the Bible and were designed to help readers locate passages and study scripture through topical references.
The Geneva Bible is often nicknamed the “Breeches Bible” because of its famous translation of Genesis 3:7 describing Adam and Eve making “breeches.”
